The suburb is also known as Badgery’s Creek is closed to three major cities: Penrith, Campbelltown and Sydney. It’s 27 km away from Campbelltown and 52 km away from Sydney. The suburb was named after a British born farmer, James Badgery who bought 3.4 square km of lands for farming in 1806. Today, The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) and University of Sydney are using this land for farming research. The second Sydney airport is under constructions at Badgerys Creek, to be named Western Sydney Airport. The government selected Badgerys Creek to establish the second Sydney airport. It is expected that work on the airport site could start in 2016, with operations at the proposed airport planned to begin in the mid 2020s.
